Any questions about the tour?
What is a private ski or splitboard tour?
On a privately guided tour, you’ll be exploring off-piste terrain together with your personal guide. The route, pace, ascent duration, and technical requirements are individually adapted to your ability, fitness level, and preferences. Depending on conditions, the tour can be done with touring skis, snowboard, snowshoes, or splitboard.
Who are the guided tours suitable for?
Our private tours are suitable for athletic beginners as well as experienced tourers and freeriders. What matters isn’t how many tours you’ve already done, but that the route and challenge match your current ability. Children and teenagers can also participate, provided their age, fitness, equipment, and tour destination are appropriate.
Can I take part without any ski touring experience?
Yes. For beginners, we choose a suitable, manageable tour and explain step by step how to use the equipment, ascent technique, kick turns, the right pace, and important basics for behavior in the terrain. You don’t need to be a pro, but a certain basic fitness level and confident skiing on-piste are advantageous.
Do I need to be particularly good at skiing or snowboarding?
For simple beginner tours, you should be able to ski red runs confidently. Since the descent often takes place in unprepared terrain, experience in different snow conditions is helpful. For more demanding tours, steeper slopes, or technical descents, a correspondingly higher skiing ability and off-piste experience are required.
What’s the difference between a ski tour and a splitboard tour?
On a ski tour, the ascent is done with touring skis and skins. With a splitboard, the snowboard is split into two elongated parts for the ascent and used like touring skis. At the top, the two parts are reconnected into a snowboard. The descent then follows as usual with skis or snowboard.
Can I join a tour with a regular snowboard?
Basically yes, but the ascent is then usually done with snowshoes while the snowboard is carried in a backpack. This variant is physically more demanding than a splitboard tour. We’ll discuss together beforehand which solution is best suited for you.
Where do the tours take place?
The exact tour area is selected to match the snow conditions, weather, avalanche situation, skill, and fitness level. Possible starting points are located in the Tuxertal and the surrounding touring areas. The meeting point and the planned route will be personally coordinated with you after booking or at the latest one day before the course starts.
Can I request a specific route or summit?
Absolutely. Let us know your desired destination when you make your inquiry. However, whether the planned route can actually be done always depends on current weather, snow, and avalanche conditions as well as the participants’ ability. For safety reasons, the guide makes the final decision on-site.
How long does a private tour last?
The duration depends on the chosen offering, tour destination, elevation gain, and your personal pace. Shorter beginner tours are possible as well as half-day, full-day, or multi-day tours. When you inquire, we’ll coordinate the desired duration and appropriate scope individually with you.
Can several people book together?
Yes. Private tours can be organized for individuals, couples, families, or small groups. So that all participants can enjoy the tour, skiing ability, fitness level, and expectations should be as similar as possible. If there are differences in ability, splitting into multiple guides may be sensible or necessary.
Are children and teenagers allowed on ski & splitboard tours?
Yes, provided the tour is planned age-appropriately and the child has the necessary fitness, skiing technique, and motivation. For minors, we decide individually which tour is suitable. Safety, appropriate equipment, and realistic tour goals always come first.
What equipment do I need for a ski or splitboard tour?
You need a complete classic ski or splitboard touring equipment setup.
Can I rent the touring equipment I need?
Depending on availability, equipment can be rented on-site at the sports shops. Rental equipment is not included in the tour price.
Is avalanche equipment mandatory?
For all activities in off-piste terrain, complete safety equipment is necessary.
Will I get a safety briefing before the tour?
Yes, if you’ve booked it with us. If not, there’s the option to book it on-site, depending on availability.
Will a tour be cancelled in bad weather?
Lessons generally take place in all weather conditions. If safety cannot be guaranteed due to high avalanche danger or other safety-related events, the lesson will be moved to another day or to a different ski area.
Is ski touring the same as freeriding?
No. A ski tour focuses on the independent ascent using skins.
Do I need a lift pass?
That depends on the planned tour. If a cable car is used for the starting point or part of the ascent, a valid ski pass or corresponding lift ticket is required.
What should I bring on the tour?
We recommend several thin layers of clothing, a wind- and waterproof jacket, spare gloves, sunglasses or ski goggles, sun protection, sufficient drinks, and a small snack.
Are food and drinks included in the price?
No, this must be arranged yourself.
Why can’t ski and splitboard tours be booked directly online?
Every tour must be planned individually and depends on the snow and safety conditions. For this, we need information about your ability, your experience, your fitness level, the group size, the required equipment, and your wishes. Only then can we arrange a suitable guide, an appropriate tour, and the best possible date.
What information do you need for my enquiry?
Helpful information includes the desired date, the number and age of participants, ski or splitboard, previous touring experience, skiing ability, fitness level, desired duration, available equipment, and any special requests. The more precise your details are, the better we can make you a proposal.
Why should I book a tour with a professional guide?
An experienced and locally knowledgeable guide knows the terrain, handles the tour planning, continuously assesses the conditions, selects a suitable route, and supports you with technique, pace, and equipment. This allows you to focus more on the nature experience while benefiting from valuable knowledge about snow, terrain, and risk management.
